Misc. "is it for me" q's...
Greets. I played during the beta on some open weekend trial, but only barely remember the game... so I thought I'd check here quick before getting it.
1.) To what degree will a solo player enjoy this game? I'm not fond of grouping with others... For various reasons that are common, I find I cannot play well with others, especially male others, as there's a perceived "right" way to play. Anyhow, could you summarize the solo experience? I understand it do a degree- but at 20, what does the solo player do? Continue to seek skills? And lastly on this, is there PvP for the solo player? Or will it end up 4-on-1 against me everytime? 2.) I have examined the classes/skills, but just to make sure for me- is there a way to make a Druid style character and, for warriors, a "shieldmaster" (i.e. defensive master) These are my two favorite ways to play... just curious! 3.) What means are there to avoid/ignore players breaking the fantasy theme of the game? Nothing I hate more than being in a gameworld trying to escape reality and running into "Metallica" the warrior or "SuperDave" the ranger. I've heard that the talk in game is inundated with the gibberish alot of kids are using now- are there routes to take to ignore the majority of these idiots? Or will you be forced to deal with them to progress in game? Thanks in advance for the answers. |

1) You can't do most missions completely solo per se, but you can use computer controlled henchmen in leiu of human players. They really are pretty capable for most things, just not much for converstation. Solo PvP can be done with henchman in some areas, but you will be crushed. They are really for PvE only.
2)Sure. Your imagination is the limit, really. 3)Sort of. There are a lot of filtering options in the chat panel. For intance, you can temporarily block the trade channel of there is a lot of spamming going on there. Also, if a particular player is bothersome to you, you can add them to your "Ignore" list - this blocks their entire account, not just that character, which is nice. Unfortunately, there is not a general stupidity filter, so you have to hand select the morons you want to block. Hope that helps. |

Thanks for the input. We'll see what I think- I managed to wrangle up 7 trade ins, so I was able to pick up Guild Wars for +$0.51. ( ).
So at worst, even if it isn't my "thing", I'm out...er... up, 51 cents! Hehe. (Gotta love trade-ins at EB games for the lengthily unemployed!) |
